Today we’re teaming up with Resi from Kamille Bloemen for a friendly take-over of our social channels. We met Resi during our floral designer meeting in March. Still so young but already making a name for herself in the floral industry, we had to know more! What prompted her to become a florist and where does she get her inspiration from? Read all about it below!ÂÂ
Could you tell us what prompted you to become a floral designer?ÂÂ
As a child I was always playing with flowers, enchanted by them, so when the time came for me to decide in which direction I wanted to go, floral design was the obvious choice. It has always been flowers for me.ÂÂ
Could you tell us how your floristry career has progressed?
After completing floral school and several years of working experience in various flower shops I decided to take a leap of faith and started working as a freelance florist. Best decision ever! Working as a freelancer has taught me so many things (and still does!) and I love meeting new people and learning from them. ÂÂ
When did you start your business and where are you based?
I started as a freelance florist two years ago. At the same time I also started my own business, Kamille Bloemen. At the moment I work throughout the Netherlands, but I’d love to be able to work internationally as well in the future.ÂÂ
What kind of services do you offer?
Florists hire me as a freelancer during the season for their projects. This is the best way for me to grow and develop myself as a floral designer. But I of course also provide flower arrangements for weddings, events, workshops and photo shoots.ÂÂ
Where do you get inspiration for your floral designs?
I love nature and try to honor that in my designs. Whenever I need inspiration, nature is my to go to place. Just seeing and feeling the materials I could work with always gives me a creative boost.ÂÂ
How would you describe your style?
How to describe my own style? I think it’s a little dependent on the season and the wishes of my clients; translating what my clients want into beautiful floral designs is really important to me. But every floral designer also has their own signature. Mine would be lots of color and field-like flowers. I love creating something romantic with a little bit of a wild touch to it.ÂÂ
What are your plans for this year?
I’m really looking forward to this year because I have a lot of interesting projects awaiting me. I’m also currently working on a couple of new projects that are really challenging me. I can best describe it as a fun and exciting time!ÂÂ
Looking back on your career, what advice would you have given yourself?
Go for it! This was pretty difficult for me when I started out because I was scared to fail. But in time you learn that it is okay to make mistakes because it helps you grow, it teaches you to become better.
What is your favorite (scented) rose?ÂÂ
There’s so much to choose from! But I think I will always have a soft spot for the Yves Piaget rose. It’s such a classic beauty with layers upon layers of ruffled hot pink petals. Besides, have you smelled this rose? The scent is incredible!
You can follow Resi on Facebook or Instagram, or, even better yet, contact her at [email protected] so she can help you with your own wedding or event!ÂÂ
