Congratulations Markus!

This year we held a big giveaway for florists with the ultimate price being a two-night visit to Kenya worth €5,000. It includes a stay at the Mount Kenya Safari Hotel in Nanyuki, a visit to the Tambuzi farm to see where David Austin cut roses are grown and a safari to meet the Big 5, including all meals and return flights for two people.

A luxurious stay at the Mount Kenya Safari Hotel

“With magnificent views of majestic Mount Kenya, the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club Resort’s 120 luxuriously appointed hotel rooms, set in over 100 acres of landscaped gardens, offer a unique blend of comfort, relaxation and adventure.

“Its no wonder this Nanyuki resort emerged a winner in the 2013 Travellers Choice Awards and that Travel & Leisure Magazine often positions it in the ‘World’s Top 50’ List. Originally the retreat of movie star and Club founder, William Holden, the Club’s illustrious former members have included Winston Churchill and Bing Crosby. “

“Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club is the ideal base for a truly superb holiday in Nanyuki, Kenya. With some of the country’s finest attractions on the doorstep, visitors to the resort can enjoy an enormous range of excursions and activities without spending hours and even days traveling between each. Making it one of the most truly best hotels in Kenya”

A magnificent view to behold, the prestigious main structure reflects the 1950’s colonial architectural design with a luxury country club feel, complemented with independent quaint cottages.”

A game drive through the Ol Peteja conservancy

“From a working cattle ranch in colonial Kenya, to a trailblazer of conservation innovation – the story of Ol Pejeta is as enchanting as it is inspirational.

“Today, Ol Pejeta is the largest black rhino sanctuary in east Africa, and home to three of the world’s last remaining northern white rhino. It is the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzees, in a Sanctuary established to rehabilitate animals rescued from the black market.”

“Ol Pejeta has some of the highest predator densities in Kenya, and still manages a very successful livestock programme. Ol Pejeta also seeks to support the people living around its borders, to ensure wildlife conservation translates to better education, healthcare and infrastructure for the next generation of wildlife guardians.”

The conservation of the natural habitat, located in Kenya’s Laikipia Plateau, ensured the protection of existing rhino, elephant, and other wildlife populations in addition to captive chimpanzees living in a 300-acre sanctuary.”

And a special visit to the Tambuzi farm

“Tambuzi is an ethically run business with one simple goal – to produce the very finest garden scented roses that money can buy. Tambuzi has a range of over 50 carefully selected varieties of roses – each one chosen for their exceptional colour, scent and shape.

“In the mid 1990s, Tim and Maggie Hobbs – a young and dynamic couple with Kenyan roots, came across a beautiful, derelict farm on the foot hills of Mount Kenya only miles from the equator. The 64 hectare farm, originally a dairy and beef farm, was up for sale and with its perfect conditions for growing roses the Hobbs bought and developed it into what it is today: a specialist supplier of traditional garden scented roses- the only one in Kenya.”

“Today, Tambuzi has 25 hectares under horticultural production, with the rest dedicated to sustainable forestry, bee keeping, vegetables and livestock. It is also home to Tim, Maggie and their three young children. Tambuzi is a company driven not just for profit but with the intention of improving the world around it. The company’s strapline ‘stop and smell the roses’ sends a simple message – to slow down, notice and enjoy everything around you. The company strongly believes in the concept of shared values, and it considers the welfare of its employees and the neighbouring communities to be part of its strength.”

Tambuzi uses the best practice methods possible to ensure that there are no negative impacts on the integrity of the environment. Tambuzi is proud to be one of only five ‘gold’ certified members of the Kenya Flower Council.”

Enjoy your trip to Kenya, Markus!
